Employee Ethics

Time to Complete

10 Minutes
An employee on your team asks for a raise. They say they’re going through a tough time and need more money. Otherwise, they’ll have to look for a job with better pay.

You sympathize, but the company isn’t in a position to increase wages. What’s more, giving one employee a raise could be seen as special treatment. Still, this employee’s work is outstanding, and you really can’t afford to train someone else to take over their role right now.

Faced with this dilemma, how do you know what course of action to take? It’s not an easy decision to make, and there’s no right or wrong answer.

In this lesson, you’ll learn what an ethical dilemma is, how a conflict of values causes it, and what five approaches you can follow to resolve these dilemmas.
